19 days till departure to Alaska. Taking a break from the final preparations for the expedition, I joined some family and friends for a 8 day float down the Grand Canyon. I'm sure I'll be saying this quite a bit throughout the next 27 months... but... THIS IS SOMETHING YOU MUST DO!!!! The "Big Ditch" is truly extraordinary. The Canyon is a geologist's delight and sightseers dream.
 
We were fortunate to be on the clear Colorado River before the run-off season, so in addition to amazing scenery and big whitewater, we were able to get some fishing in too.
 
Thanks to our Hatch River Expedition guides Mark Franke and Don Mossman for making our trip an enjoyable and educational one.
